Committed to Chiropractic?

Well, did you miss me?  I apologize for missing last week but life “happens” to even me! And yes, I know it’s a Tuesday and it’s the afternoon for that matter.  I’ll get better!

I’m going to pick up where I left off w/ Cottrell.  Choice # 2 is The Committment Choice…..be passionate enough to succeed.

When you first graduated from chiropractic school, you were on fire.  Your commitment level was 110% to make your community healthy and have a $40k per month practice.  You did whatever it took to grow your practice.  But a few years later, something changed.  What happened?  The fire fizzled.  You’re content at twenty.

It’s just like new year’s resolutions.  You’re completely committed to getting to the gym a minimum of four times per week.  Why is it that life continues to get in the way?  It’s now February, and you’ve only worked out one time!  I love where Cottrell says “chances are, we were more interested than committed to reaching those goals”.

He says that most people will  never find out how powerful they really are until they choose to move beyond being interested and make a commitment to give what they consider “the impossible” a shot.  How true is this?  Have you ever been in a situation where you didn’t think you could do something only to find out just because of someone else’s belief in you, you not only accomplished but exceeded what you had in your vision?

Here are a few attributes of those committed vs. only being interested.

  • They do what they say because they’ve made the commitment to do it.
  • They vividly see success.
  • They put their goals in writing.
  • They’re realistic.
  • They invest into their commitment and in achieving their goals.
  • They don’t understand failure – it is a step closer to success.

Food for thought: Do you have to be passionate about something to be committed?

Until next time ~
